1:43 Diecast Model

The 1979 eight round series started in March with Peter Brock and Bob Morris on the front row at Symmons Plains, finishing fifth and fourth respectively. Two weeks later at Calder raceway, Brock took out the race win from Bob Morris. Barely one week later, the cars fronted at Oran Park for Round Three where the Under 3-litre cars ran a separate race - the V8 race grid was headed by Morris and Moffat, with Grice and Brock on the second row. Bob Morris ultimately took the win from Allan Grice, with Brock in third place. Sandown Park's fourth round event in April witnessed a long joust between Brock and Morris until the HDT hero found his car wilting in the brake department. John Harvey did his best to upset things but Bob Morris kept his cool to record his second win of the series. This was the halfway mark in the series, with Bob Morris on 39 points ahead of Peter Brock with 27 points.
Round Five at Wanneroo Park in early May was a cracker race, despite only featuring twelve cars on the grid. The three HDT cars of Brock, Negus and Harvey took the early lead, however Bob Morris soon came charging through on Wayne Negus and both ended up off track. A heated dice between Grice and Brock saw both drivers have separate spins as a result of brake issues, but Brock still managed to take the race win from John Harvey and Allan Grice, with Bob Morris in fourth place.
The next round at Surfers Paradise witnessed Allan Grice wreck his Torana in practice. In the race, local boys Dick Johnson and Charlie O'Brien initially blitzed the field, but Johnson's tyres gave up near the end and O'Brien's glory was taken away by Brock on the last lap. Peter Brock's win and another fourth place for Bob Morris meant that the Championship lead was now six points in Brocky's favour.

A two month layover took the field back to Queensland for Round Seven at Lakeside. Brock fluffed his start from pole position and Morris shot to the front fighting off the Falcon of Dick Johnson. In his efforts to recover lost ground, Brock tortured his tyres and suffered a one minute penalty as a result of a pit infringement. Bob Morris held the lead to the end and Brock was eventually credited with fifth place. One week later, with Morris having regained a points advantage, the final round was fought out at Adelaide International raceway. Brock had pole again, but Morris displayed genuine race pace, overtaking Brock on the eighth lap to take out the race win and the 1979 ATCC title with a total of 69 points to Brocky's tally of 62 points.
This feat also marked the first time a privateer team defeated a factory team in the same car for a touring car championship title in Australian motor sport.

This model forms part of the Biante Racing Legends series.
