In 1983, Allan Moffat took his RX-7 to Bathurst with co-driver Yoshimi Katayama for the James Hardie 1000 after finishing
6th the year before.
Qualifying didn't go too badly for the pair, but it could have been better, with the number 43 RX-7 sitting 14th on the grid.

The pair ran a better race then the year before though, taking out 2nd place, despite various issues including
overcoming a driver door jam during one pitstop which saw the duo scramble through the passenger side door to complete a driver change.
